UNILAG’S FIRST FEMALE VICE-CHANCELLOR RESUMES OFFICE

Posted on November 19, 2022

Professor Folasade Tolulope Ogunsola, FAS, was appointed as the 13th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos at the end of the special meeting of the Governing Council meeting on Friday, October 7, 2022.

She is the first female Vice-Chancellor of the university, and her tenure is to run for five years which took effect on Saturday, November 12, 2022 and ends on Thursday, November 11, 2022.

Professor Ogunsola is a medical microbiologist and was acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos from August to November 2020.

She also served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Development Services under the 11th and 12th Vice-Chancellors of the university.

Coincidentally, her birthday was on Monday, November 14, the first day of the work-week after her tenure began.

It was a double celebration as she marked her resumption to office and birthday in grand style; members of the university community at large came out to celebrate with her.

Since she resumed office, congratulations have flown in from prominent persons such as the Consul-General of South Africa in Lagos, Dr. Bobby Moroe, and the Acting Director of the UNILAG Medical Centre, Dr. O. Coker.

Professor Folasade Tolulope Ogunsola, FAS, has been received warmly by the university, and we wish her a blissful tenure.
