UNILAG STUDENT WINS MAPLE EDUCATION CANADA UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

A 300 Level student of the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Lagos, Miss Chukwuezugo Alaoma, has emerged winner of the Maple Education Canada Incorporated scholarship for undergraduates in Nigeria.

She was awarded the scholarship on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Office of Advancement, University of Lagos by the Country Manager (Nigeria) of Maple Education, Mr. Olukoya Temitope and the Business Development Manager, Mrs Olabode Mubo.

Ms. Chukwuezugo’s entry was picked from a pool of undergraduate student entries across the country, who were asked to submit proofs of their current academic standing and follow other specific instructions on the social media page of the organisation.

According to the Marketing Officer, Ms. Baba Eunice, “her submissions were so impressive that we could not look past them. They showed us a track record of hard work and consistency; and such are the qualities that Maple Education desires to support in Nigerian students”.

For Mrs Mubo, the Business Development Manager, “Maple Education is excited to give back.  This award is part of events lined up to celebrate our 20th Anniversary and we look forward to more of it”.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa was on ground to witness the event. She had kind words for Maple Education, commending their sense of social responsibility.

“Your gesture is commendable. It is a noble way of communicating to the students that their focus in school has a reward. The University of Lagos is grateful for it, and we hope this is the beginning of other things that we can do together”, she said.

The excited Ms. Chukwuezugo Alaoma was full of gratitude to both the university and Maple Education.

“I feel honoured that I am able to carry the name of University of Lagos to glory. I am grateful to Maple for considering me worthy of the award. Now, I know that I don’t have to overthink things. If I want something, I’ll go for it”, she declared.
