n alumna of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr Bukola Amao-Taiwo, has once again embodied one of the core values of the University, which is, commitment to excellence in learning and character, by emerging top three (3) finalist under the “Hajiya Gambo Sawaba Community Impact Award (Individual)” category for the 2023 Community and Human Rights (CAHR) Awards.
Dr Amao-Taiwo was nominated in this category for being an individual with the most visible impact on community development, including infrastructure, training, growth of women entrepreneurs, youth, graduates and other positive impacts.
Elated to have received such a prestigious award, she noted that being one of the top 3 finalists has inspired her to not relent in her efforts to continuously contribute her quota to a better future for all.
Dr Amao-Taiwo obtained her PhD in Educational Administration and Planning in 2021 from the Department of Education Management, Faculty of Education, UNILAG before proceeding to join the team at the Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Centre (ESDC), UNILAG.
Presentations of plaques and certificates of recognition were made to winners and runners-up for different categories in the 2023 CAHR Awards on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, during the 12th Sustainability in the Extractive Industries (SITEI) Conference held at Four Points by Sheraton, Lagos, Nigeria.
Director, Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Centre (ESDC), UNILAG, Professor Sunday Adebisi; Deputy Director ESDC, Dr Oladimeji Odetunde; other ESDC Team members and a representative of the Communication Unit, University of Lagos, Nike Ogunshakin, were present to cheer Dr Amao-Taiwo on as she received her recognition.
The Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, on behalf of the University community, commends Dr Bukola Amao-Taiwo for representing the University in good light through her display of excellence in character and heartily congratulates her for the meritorious achievement.
The Community and Human Rights (CAHR) Awards is an initiative by CSR-in-Action that recognises individuals and organisations that are making a significant impact in the areas of human rights and community development.
