The Medical Sub-Committee of the 2024 FASU Games has secured the support of top medical service providers in Lagos towards providing adequate medical services to athletes and officials across all venues during the forthcoming 11th Federation of African University Sports (FASU) Games, dubbed “Lagos 2024.”
The Sub-Committee led by Professor Soji Ademuyiwa, on Thursday, August 22, 2024, got the commitment of managements of Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Meta; National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi and Duchess International Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, towards handling complex medical cases which may arise during the competition.
This adds to the medical facilities’ list already comprising: Medical Centres of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Lagos State University (LASU), as well as Alimosho Teaching Hospital and Lagos University Teaching Hospital, which have all been earmarked to provide medical care to athletes and non-athletes all through the games.
As part of efforts to live up to its mandate of providing well-rounded and comprehensive health care during FASU Games, Prof Ademuyiwa said a fleet of medical volunteers comprising medical doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, Red Cross members alongside students studying Human and Kinetic Education, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy have been shortlisted for training in salient areas to ensure that every required ground is covered and quality health care service is guaranteed all through the FASU Games.
The 11th Federation of African University Sports (FASU) Games which is being co-hosted by both the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Lagos State University (LASU) is scheduled to hold between Friday, September 20 and Sunday, September 29, 2024.
